Justice Ademola withdraws from Dasuki’s case

Adeniyi Ademola, justice of the federal high court,  has withdrawn from the trial of Sambo Dasuki, a former national security adviser of Nigeria.

Justice Ademola is one of the judges targeted in the crackdown by the country’s secret police, the State Security Services, SSS, also known by the acronym of its mailing address, the DSS.

Ademola announced his decision to withdraw from the trial before the court on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.

Gunmen pose as customers, kill fashion designer

Some gunmen, who disguised as customers, have shot dead a fashion designer, Segun Sowemimo, in the Itu-Nla, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the four attackers, who went to Segun’s shop in Lemo compound on Saturday around 12pm, also brought a big stone in a polythene bag.

It was gathered that after killing Segun, the gunmen went to Allison Street and murdered a mechanic, whose name had yet to be ascertained.

They were said to have asked the mechanic to fix their faulty motorcycle when they shot him dead.

Two Federal High Court judges Mohammed Nasir Yunusa and Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjiwa yesterday, 17th October, reported to the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The judges arrived at the Commission's Lagos office following an invitation letter the EFCC extended to them.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday detained Mrs. Precious Fani-Kayode, who is the wife of a former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, in Ado Ekiti for hours.

Precious, who was a guest of Governor Ayodele Fayose, had gone to a branch of Access Bank in Ado Ekiti around 3pm when she was detained by officials of the bank.

Ondo Poll: 6,000 APC Members Reportedly Defect To PDP

Over 6,000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Idanre, Ondo State.

The APC defectors were led by Adebowale Olowoeye popularly known as Olumose and Bidemi Oladapo.

The event took place at the popular Depot, Broad Street on Thursday, October 13 2016.

2 Nigerian Men Arrested For Drug Trafficking in India

Last Friday October 14th Police in India arrested two Nigerians, Nduba Joseph (25) and Nwite Sunday Rose (32), for alleged drug trafficking. 50g of cocaine worth was recovered from them after they were arrested at their apartment in Indiranagar.

The accused reportedly confessed to purchasing of cocaine from a man, identified as Ben from T.C. Palya, and selling it. Their passports have been seized by the police and they are remanded in judicial custody. Efforts are being made to arrest their accomplice, Ben.
