Supermodel Naomi Campbell is taking action against the growing Ebola outbreak by organising charity fashion shows to raise money to fight the deadly disease.
The British beauty is determined to do what she can to help halt the spread of the virus, which has already claimed the lives of more than 3,300 people in West Africa, and she is working to stage a star-studded runway show during New York Fashion Week in February (15) and hopes to follow it up with a similar event in London.
Campbell - who has a home in Kenya, one of the African countries at high-risk - admits she is "scared" by the rising number of deaths from the disease and feels a responsibility as a black woman to educate the public about the dangers of the illness, telling the New York Post, "People don't have a clear idea about what Ebola is."
The model also fears for her own safety as a frequent globetrotter, adding, "Ebola does not discriminate."
Campbell's comments come just one day after a Texas man died from the virus. Thomas Eric Duncan had been America's first confirmed Ebola case and was diagnosed shortly after returning from Africa.
