_ZIMBABWE DESIGNER THANDO MAGANISE HONOURED AT INTERNATIONAL SHOW_

Zimbabwean designer Thando Magumise who is based in Dubai lifted the country's flag high at the recently held Middle East Fashion Week where she showcased her latest summer collection. The international event was meant to introduce designers to the Middle Eastern region to present their designs.
"I was honoured to showcase my brand "Ntombi Couture" for spring and summer 2015 collection. My clothing brand is contemporary African print, chic clothing ranging from skirts, tops, dresses and jackets," she said.
The 29-year-old designer said the fashion week benefited many designers and she was pleased with how her clothes were appreciated.
"I got an overwhelming response since I wanted to communicate that African print designs are for everyone, from all walks of life and all ethnicities.
"This was a great achievement for me and also an opportunity to see what other designers from other regions have to offer.
"Such platforms are beneficial to both emerging and established designers as they introduce new trends to markets," she said.
The emerging designer draws her inspiration from African colours and aims to become one of Africa's best designers.
"I am inspired by Africa's people, their sense of style and the way they wear bright colours that depict the diversity of our continent.
"I have been in the industry for just over a year and hopefully in few years to come I would be one of African finest designers," she said.
Magumise who is also a strategic marketer by profession said there is need for hard work if one is to penetrate the fashion industry in foreign countries.
"The biggest challenge if you are foreigner is breaking into the market and become a household name. In a foreign land no one knows you when you arrive but once you get the hang of networking, involving yourself in industry events and keeping abreast of what is happening, one can grow from strength to strength," she said.
Magumise said this was her second time to participate in the Middle East and wants to expand her territory in Zimbabwe.

"This was my second time to get a platform to market my things after I successfully exhibited at African business owners' conference in May.
