February 14th Naija Style

Recently on a radio program I was listening to on one of my many daily runs, an “authority” according to the Presenter was analyzing love and marriage. She asked him....is it not the norm to marry who you love? And he answered ‘no’ but you should love who you marry. I thought wow! That must be it. Don’t put love first but marriage first. How wonderful to know that being in a marriage means you can now find what to love about yourselves and the thought kept on growing through the day until it became a Giant standing 6 ft taller than I.

We must be in a sort of marriage as Nigerians. People from different tribes coming together to form an entity called Nigeria and then doing all we can to keep loving ourselves  by tolerating one another in a peaceful and united manner. Having made a conscious decision to stay together, we must strive to continue building up this nation as a couple vows to build up their family and make a home. There is nothing wrong with choosing February 14th to have our Presidential elections. In fact it can’t be more perfect a day. How wonderful it will be for us to express ourselves on that day as to who should take the mettle of leadership just as children within a family are asked to express their opinion on subjects their Parents are thorn about, let us go out for the elections without fear because by expressing ourselves in this manner we can only help to build on those things that unite us instead of those that divide us.

Then, come to think of it from North to South, East to West, every Nigerian has an Ankara outfit. Is that not enough to say we have something in common? Wear your Ankara on that day as a sign of your love for Nigeria.

See? Deep down in the genes of these two men the same blood flows. Shows we are family. Don’t let the red on Valentine's day be your blood. Stay in love, love Nigeria.
