President Jonathan, General Buhari Sign ‘Abuja Accord’ On Non-Violence In Upcoming Polls


President Goodluck Jonathan, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, AAPC, Muhammadu Buhari and 12 other presidential candidates on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 met in Abuja to sign an undertaking that will ensure free and fair polls, non-violent and issue-based campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The signing took place at a sensitisation workshop themed: “2015 General Elections: Sensitization workshop on Non-Violence”.
Other  presidential candidates at the workshop were:
Tunde Anifowose Kelani – Action Alliance (AA)
Dr. Rafiu Salau – Alliance for Democracy (AD)
Ganiyu Galadima – Alliance Congress (AC)
Alhaji Mani Ibrahim Ahmad – (ADC)
Chief Sam Eke – Citizens Popular Party (CPP)
Ambrose Albert Oworu – Hope Party (HP)
Prof. Oluremi Sonaiya – KOWA party and Chief Chekwas Okorie of the United Progressives Party (UPP).
The undertaking signed at the workshop was called “Abuja Accord”, and was witnessed by former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Kofi Annan, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Attahiru Jega, Former Commonwealth Secretary-General and chairman of the event, Emeka Anyaoku as well as chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC, Adamu Mu’azu and John Odigie-Oyegun respectively.
