Bash Ali Arrested & Charged To Court For Nuisance By NEXIM Bank in Abuja

Veteran Nigerian boxer, Bash Ali has been arrested for allegedly constituting nuisance at Nigerian Export/Import Bank, (NEXIM) bank in Abuja last Thursday. According to reports, Bash Ali arrived NEXIM bank office to query its manager on why the directive from the President to issue some amount of money for the sponsorship of a Guinness Book of World Record Fight had not been met. He was immediately shut down and accused of trespassing.

The Bank further accused the boxer of threatening to blow up their premises, as he allegedly arrived the bank with three other men. They were charged for nuisance the following day at an Abuja court after spending the night at SARS.

Ali however said the reason why the bank has not been showing so much interest in the project or willing to release the funds was because they demanded a 10 per cent bribe from him – which he out rightly declined.

However, Ali said they are trying to silence him as he knows their plans. He equally denied threatening to blow up the NEXIM bank office, but pleaded with government to close down NEXIM bank, as they have disobeyed the orders from the presidency.

Hearing on the nuisance and threat to life charges, as well as Mr. Ali’s bail application, begins on March 4, 2015.
