The Princeton University mathematics genius, John Forbes Nash Jr. , whose life inspired the movie “A Beautiful Mind,” starring Russell Crowe and Jennifer Conelly, died in a car crash with his wife on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
John and Alicia Nash died at the ages of 86 and 82 respectively, while riding in a taxi near Monroe Township when the incident occurred.
They had been travelling southbound in the left lane when the taxi went out of control while trying to pass another car.
The car unfortunately crashed into the guard rail, and the couple was ejected from the vehicle and died on the spot.
Tarek Girgis, the taxi driver was rushed to Robert Wood Johnsn hospital with not so fatal injuries.
A passenger in the other car the taxi driver crashed into was transported by ground to Princeton University Hospital as he was complaining of neck pain.
John Nash is widely renowned as one of the greatest mathematicians of the 20th century.
He was remarked for his work in game theory, and his personal struggle with paranoid schizophrenia.
Alicia Nash, a physician from the aristocratic Salvadorian family, has been credited with saving his life while he was suffering the ravages of schizophrenia, letting him into her home in 1970 even after they had divorced in 1963.
John Nash was awarded a Nobel Prize in Economics in 1994.
