Uganda KFW Fashion Show Set For Its Grand Finale Tomorrow

Kampala Fashion Week (KFW) was set up to promote Ugandan and African fashion designers in a global market.

The main activity is to support and strengthen Uganda and other East African countries’ reputation for developing design excellence. The main event takes place this weekend.
The grand finale taking place tomorrow evening was preceded by seminars at Goethe-Zentrum (German Cultural Centre). Gloria Wavamunno, KFW’s artistic director, was one of the key speakers at the networking seminars where success stories and experiences within the fashion industry were shared.

The show kicks off at 6pm at Kololo ceremonial grounds. Some of Uganda’s top designers are lined up to showcase their works. Designs from labels such as Kwesh, Kas Wear, Eguana, Martha Jabo, Sylvia Owori and J&Kainembabazi will grace the runway donned by Uganda’s crème de la crème of the modelling industry.

Gloria Wavamunno, Catherine and Sons, plus award-winning designer Jose Hendo, will be the climax of the event scheduled to end a little after 9pm. London-based Hendo has showcased at fashion weeks in London, Berlin and New York. She will be unveiling her latest collection. ‘SS R2 Spontaneous’ will be showcased in Uganda for first time.
“I am excited to have been invited to show my line in my home country,” she said in a statement posted on her website. observer.ug
