Nigerian Writers; ‘Helon Habila and ‘Teju Cole Win 2015 Windham Campbell $150k Prize

Award winning Nigerian writers, ‘Helon Habila‘ and ‘Teju Cole‘ were recent recipients of the 2015 Windham Campbell Literature Prizes administered by Ivy League institution, Yale University, valued at $150,000 per recipient.
The Windham Campbell prize is considered quite unique and in a class of its own, because the winners are selected from a pool of writers nominated without their knowledge by other writers and academics from all over the world with the final decision on the selected winners resting with the panel of judges.
This year, there were 61 nominees from 12 countries and all three fiction awards were swept away by Africans as the 3rd fiction position went to South Africa’s Ivan Vladislavić.
The organizers of the award name winners in each of the following three categories—fiction, nonfiction, and drama.
