Save Your Local Tailor/Designer
If you think your local tailor is doing well, look again at the new trends on our roads now. Hardly do you see anyone wearing African dresses, but cheap outfits from the far East. They have colonized our Markets in practically every style and size, the most threatening being that even the plus size persons can find their sizes because the materials used are stretch. It has not also done much for our Conservative Society. Since these outfits leave little to the imagination. when the word "Hugging" was invented years ago they could not have imagined how appropriate it would suit the look in 2014 Nigerian Streets.
Now wearing a hugging dress if your have a straightish figure with modest breasts and behinds does not scream for attention but thanks to stretchy materials and these imported dress colonists, size 16+ are venturing into the hugging zone and some verge on offensive. These persons would usually visit the local tailor to construct a more befitting attire but now all caution has been thrown to the wind and for us ladies every asset is now on display.
Up until now, Sundays were reserved for "traditional attire day" and many young ladies took pleasure in wearing their long skirts and properly tailored blouses. Recently with the influence of these cheap hugging dresses, young ladies as well as "Aunties" are daring to bring them into Churches and fully distract all concerned. There is nothing wrong with looking smart with a hat in Church and I don't make apologies for sounding judgmental but lets keep these dresses hugging fewer areas of the body.
Tips for looking decent
1. If you are a lady, do not show all your assets in one outfit. For example, if you have nice legs and want to wear a short dress - do, but let it not be hugging all over your body.
2. If you want to show your cleavage, you don't have to show your legs and behind in the same dress.
3. If you think you want to show your behind, then do, but don't show your legs and cleavage in the same attire.
If you follow these rules chances are many will classify you as Chic with your dress sense. Then please lets keep patronizing our local tailors for that official or Sunday attire, that way we can continue to promote African styles and fabrics.
